Migration

Preserve Your Investments - Enterprise Modernization Done Rationally

Many systems are under pressure to change today simply because of the language they were written on or the platform they are deployed to.  While some of these systems have not kept up with the pace of business changes and are good candidates for replacement, others provide all stakeholder needs and represent signficant assets and investments for their owners.  These stable, well performing systems are good candidates for migration.

The scope of migrations spans between simple code migration to more complex re-architecting projects.  An exmple of a simple code migration might be an upgrade from an older version of COBOL to a newer one.  Other migrations may require further remediation for example to take advantage of capabilities in the new lanaguage.  Finally, migrations that invovle moving from structured to object-oriented languages often require not only code migration but extensive re-architecting to not only take advantage of the language but also to assure the system is maintainable and not subject to "code bloat" often found in migration tools.
