04.26.2009    CLEARBLADE EGL SESSION AT COMMON ANNUAL MEETING

Modernizing with IBM's Enterprise Generation Language

Session Abstract:
Companies that have invested in the System i platform are challenged with modernizing their existing core business applications. Most legacy transformation projects, utilizing newer languages such as Java and .Net, have missed their business objectives, primarily because these technologies fail to reuse and interoperate with existing legacy code (RPG, CL, COBOL, etc.). To address these issues, IBM has created Enterprise Generation Language (EGL). This session will show how EGL can provide you with a strategic advantage by allowing your business to create more modern systems while leverage existing code assets through re-use. This session includes a demonstration and case studies.

Learning Objectives:

1. Overview of IBM's new business language, Enterprise Generation Language (EGL)
2. How to reduce the gap between legacy and modern applications by providing a smoother transition from legacy code (RPG, COBOL, etc.) to EGL development.
3. Understand how the talent of your existing staff can easily transition to EGL development (typically in about 30 days).

Audience:
CTOs and CIOs in charge of technology strategy, Programmers and Analysts who wish to leverage their existing procedural skills with a new, modern business language.
