Robert Schmid is joined by Eric Simone, CEO and founder of ClearBlade, Inc., an IoT platform company specializing in industrial, enterprise, and edge computing for a timely chat on “edge” vs “fog” vs “cloud” computing. Robert and Eric discuss enterprise modernization and use cases that require the real-time responses and/or data stream management that one can only get by moving compute power to IP connected devices at the edge. One particularly fascinating use case is for railway crossings, where the metric of success is reduced injuries and lives saved. At the “edge” it’s all about smaller, faster, and smarter.
